Professor Tim Schwanen in East Asia
For most of December, Professor Tim Schwanen, Director of the Transport Studies Unit, was in East Asia to give several lectures, seminars and talks. He gave one of the keynote speeches at the 27th Annual Conference of the Hong Kong Society for Transport Studies on Monday 11 December.
In the lecture he critically reflected on policies to encourage just transitions to electric mobility in the cities of Bristol, Utrecht, Oslo and Poznan, based on empirical research conducted within the ITEM project.
He gave extended versions of the talk as seminars at the Urban Systems Institute of the Hong Kong University and at the University of Seoul on 13 and 20 December, respectively. He also gave a talk about thee co-production of a space-time accessibility model at the first International Geospatial Health Research Network Workshop of the Chinese University of Hong Kong on 8 December.
Six days later he gave a seminar on expectations about vehicle automation in the UK as part of the Distinguished Lecture Series of the Institute of Space and Earth Information Science at the same university.
